During the survey we contacted many people and decided that it would be wise to give the Weebale Foundation a legal status in Uganda as well. This is possible by means of the registration of a CBO, a Community Based Organisation or a small NGO. Together with Mr Obedi, very involved as a community worker in Banda, we wrote down the minutes of the foundation meeting, drew up the constitution, filled in the registration papers, had the members sign and talked to the government representative of the subcounty. She wrote the letter of recommendation by hand, the computer had broken down and it would not be repaired for the time being. We went to Mukono with all the paperwork, made copies and reported to the bank to pay for the registration fee of 10,000 shillings, € 3.50. Then we went on to the district office, where without any problem and unlike the situation in the Netherlands, we could walk into several offices to look for the right civil servant. He sat in a small room and received us warmly.

Within a quarter of an hour Weebale was outside with the necessary certificate. Normally this would take several days. The CBO of Nagasunga Subcounty with 63 villages is now the working field of the Weebale Foundation. In the future we will open a small office in Banda, have office hours and listen to the wishes of the people from other villages. Together with the board we will decide which projects are going to be supported. Starting point always is the commitment, the financial participation, the co-responsibility of the local community.

Not we decide what is to be done, they will do that.

Only when there is a sufficient basis in Uganda, also financially, a project can be carried out. Weebale will assist in running the projects in cooperation with the people in Uganda.
